Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Lumique LLC, operating as EdgeDNS (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
2. Service Description
EdgeDNS provides a domain monitoring and intelligence API that enables users to monitor their domains privately, verify DNS configurations, validate email authentication, and assess domain security. The Service includes:
- RESTful API access for domain monitoring and intelligence queries
- Private domain monitoring subscriptions with alerting
- A web-based API playground for testing
- Dashboard for managing API keys, subscriptions, and usage
3. Accounts
You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys. You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including API requests made with your API keys. Keep your API keys confidential and do not share them publicly.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Conduct network attacks, port scanning, or unauthorized vulnerability testing against domains you do not own or have permission to test
- Circumvent rate limits or abuse prevention measures
- Resell or redistribute API data without authorization
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Scrape, harvest, or collect data for building competing services
- Send unsolicited communications based on data obtained through the Service
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Pricing and Payment
The Service is offered in multiple tiers as described on our pricing page. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually. Prices may change with 30 days' notice.
If you exceed your plan's monthly request quota, additional requests will be rate-limited until the next billing cycle. Upgrade your plan for a higher quota.
All subscriptions are billed on the 1st of each month. You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for any reason, including partial billing periods, downgrades, or cancellations.
6. Data Ownership and Privacy
You retain ownership of any data you input into the Service, including the domains you choose to monitor. Domain monitoring data collected on your behalf is private to your organization and is not shared with other customers or third parties.
Our data handling practices are described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
7. Service Level
We target 99.9% uptime for the API. Enterprise customers may negotiate custom SLA terms with uptime credits. Scheduled maintenance windows are announced in advance and do not count against uptime calculations.
The Service is provided on an “as-is” basis. While we strive for accuracy, DNS and domain data can change rapidly. We do not guarantee that API responses will always be complete or current.
8. Rate Limits
Each plan has rate limits as described on our pricing page. Requests exceeding rate limits will receive a 429 (Too Many Requests) response. Persistent rate limit abuse may result in temporary or permanent suspension.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its API, documentation, website, and branding, is owned by Lumique LLC. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Service in accordance with these terms and your plan.
You may use API response data in your applications and products. You may not use the EdgeDNS name, logo, or branding to imply endorsement without written permission.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LUMIQUE LLC (EDGEDNS) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Lumique LLC (EdgeDNS) harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
12. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time through your dashboard settings. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or extended inactivity (12+ months on free tier with no API activity).
Upon termination, your API keys are immediately revoked. Monitoring subscriptions and associated data are deleted within 30 days. Billing records are retained as required by law.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on our website at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
